Ridgetop Cellars is a family operation. Autumn and the kids help with harvest and support Jay throughout the day-to-day work.
Jay Sepulveda is the labor and vision behind Ridgetop Cellars. Jay grew up in the Santa Ynez valley. At that time the area was a country alternative to the busier Santa Barbara areas. Jay followed in the footsteps of his father, becoming a union electrician. He proudly was part of the same local his father was. His work provided him with opportunities to work all over the country. When his sister married into a prominent wine-making family in the Santa Ynez valley, Jay was introduced to winemaking. Once he was introduced, his interest only continued to grow. After several years of being able to make small batches of wine, Jay wanted more. That is where his dream started. In 2010, Jay and Autumn started looking for property to grow grapes and to plan a future life together. The search for the perfect property continued to bring Jay farther and farther north in his search. The search ended in Whitmore when we fell in love with the potential of this property in Shasta County with views of Mt. Shasta, green trees surrounding, and beautiful volcanic soil. In 2017, with the help of friends and family, we broke ground and started planting. Jay spent hours upon hours searching for the perfect clones to plant. He built the winery on the property. Every bottle truly is a labor of love.
